The world population is estimated to reach 8.7 billion in 2022, which is a staggering increase from the current number of 7.9 billion people. The growth rate of the population is slowing down due to increased living standards, big families, and increasing education levels with girls.
Unique Mobile Users
Today, there are approximately 5.2 billion global mobile subscribers. This will account for the changing demographics in the world where more people are getting on board with mobile devices and how they are used for different purposes.
It will be interesting to see how these changes will affect people’s lives in the future, but it is safe to say that mobile usage is not going anywhere soon.
Internet Users
The world population on the internet is growing and will reach more than 5 billion people by 2022. It’s estimated that, by 2022, there will be 5 billion people accessing the internet from mobile devices.
In 2022, mobile internet users will make up 51% of all users with 10% coming from Africa and 4% coming from Asia.
This means people in developing countries are going to have a greater share of Internet usage in the future.
Active Social Media Users
There are a lot of active social media users in the world. The latest report claims that there are 3.96 billion active social media users worldwide. And this number is projected to increase to more than 4 billion by 2022.
The percentage of active social media users in different regions varies a lot, with Latin America having the lowest percentage at 30% and Africa having the highest percentage at 47%.
However, the majority of these users skew towards young people aged between 16 and 24 years old with an average age of 18-24.
